When I cooked the dishes at the food festival in New York City, there were many difficulties and hardships at the beginning of our shift. Firstly, we had to set up everything we use, because there was no kitchen system in the public park. We brought portable cookers, “10×10 size” vendor tent, food ingredients, table and chairs.
All the members of our restaurant were always thirsty and struggled, but those single moments were still shining as our career history.
In my humble opinion, everything is gonna be easier than the old time kitchen environment. If we think of the hard work of our ancestors, we are all filled with a grateful and peaceful heart.
“Kuroda Kanbei” was the originator of Fukuoka city as a feudal domain. In the late 16th century, there were only empty lots in Fukuoka City, because of vigorous Samurai war. But he and his family never gave up on reconstructing their country.
Kuroda Kanbei was one of the best patient people. When Kanbei was 32 years old, he was captured in his enemy’s castle “Arioka Castle”. And this incident was the biggest mess of his life, but he never gave up his life.
After that, he got joint problems on his knee, because of poor hostage condition. However, he decided to fulfill his duty as the Japanese Samurai. And he carried on his life with a walking handicap. Although he was known as a brave warrior and the best strategist, actually, his strong point was patience for the team and his boss.
My ex-coworker always told me that “Delicious food requires constant patience”. In other words, beautiful taste only comes after overcoming difficulties.
Fukuoka city was originally built by “Kuroda Kanbei” in the end of 16th century. And he was the best patient Samurai.
Nowadays, there were so many Japanese specialties in Fukuoka city. Because the citizen of this city is also patient people, and they work so hard. What a beautiful city!
