Japanese Renaissance

Phraseology

“Japanese foods will make sense for you”

To overcome any future difficulties, we must never forget about our own food cultures and eating habits. In the Japanese mind, having white rice on the table means a peaceful society. In my humble saying, let me call this history and cultural background “Japanese Renaissance”.

Although we face new virus problems these days, I believe Japanese foods will make sense for our essential workers. Anyway, since a long time ago, eating well at lunch break was an indispensable schedule at their work in Japanese tradition. I hope these facts are the same for other countries too.

“Emperor offers a harvest ceremony”

By the way, the Japanese emperor offers a harvest ceremony every year and it’s the end of November, near the thanksgiving. This harvest ritual is called “NIINAMESAI”. At this time, we are thankful for newly harvested rice. And we also appreciate that there’s no conflicts, disasters and any problems. Because, only in a peaceful society, we can make a good harvest.

In other words, for Japanese people, having “White Rice” on their dining table means a peaceful society and love.

“How Japanese Samurai eat Litre of Rice”

Since the Japanese food culture grew up with hard-working workers, Japanese people used to eat 0.9 liter white rice for each person every single day. They used to eat actually 2 pounds of rice, and it was a really incredible amount. On the contrary, nowadays, that huge amount is surprising even for the Japanese people. What is the main reason for “less rice”?

Firstly, we’ve been exercising less, because of remote work and meetings. Probably more than 50% of people engage in desk work in the 21st century, I guess. Second reason is that we have very useful transportation in urban areas.

Again, please keep it in your mind, the Japanese food culture grew up with hard-working workers.

“Empowering reconstruction is deeply linked by food preference. “

When you are depressed and have no appetite, let’s try some Japanese ingredients. Japanese taste and seasonings will help you. In Japan, there were many disasters, such as internal conflicts, world war, earthquakes and Fire. Every time we have recovered our cities and country somehow, and there was always nice Japanese food by our side.

It can be said that Japanese food culture grew up with hard-working workers, accordingly.

Empowering reconstruction is deeply linked by food preference.

“Reconstruction of Tokyo City”

Most Japanese foods were so healthy and it played an important role in overcoming hardships of disasters. Once disasters occurred in urban areas, many laborers gathered to reconstruct them. Mostly, their occupations were carpenter, artisan and craftsman.

As you may know, after hard work and exercise, people are extremely thirsty and hungry. Therefore, physical workers loved the thick soy sauce flavor. Because most Japanese people engaged in physical labor work in old Japan, Japanese people loved soy sauce seasonings very much. There must be your new day over the rain clouds, eating well.

“Why do Japanese love soy sauce seasonings?”

Tokyo is geographically closer to good soy sauce breweries. So easily, people could enjoy white rice with soy sauce seasonings, such as Sushi, Tempura, Grilled eel and other skewer meals. The workers really loved those delicious nutritious foods.

Soy sauce made in Tokyo has a thicker color and stronger flavor than other areas in Japan. White Rice and Soy-sauce dishes were very attractive for the old Tokyo folks. Also, our body needs to get energy and enough nutrition, physically.

Soy sauce made their efforts to rebuild Japan. In my humble opinion, let me call this history and cultural background “Japanese Renaissance”.
