“Potential of Disposable Chopsticks”

In Japan, chopsticks culture was always on the table, by our side. And this interesting culture grew up with street food vendors.

The best reason is its usability. Since Japanese disposable chopsticks are easy to grip, you can pick up your food in any situation. When you have lunch outside, it is super helpful for eating, even though outside tables are unstable.

“History of Disposable Chopsticks”

In the 19th century, takeout chopsticks were invented for Japanese rice bowls. And the first chopsticks for takeout were made from bamboo materials. But those bamboo chopsticks were not perfect and environment friendly at first. Later Japanese people tried to make it with eco materials.

The first disposable chopsticks for takeout were invented by “Okubo Imasuke”. He was a famous owner of theaters and a wealthy merchant in Tokyo. And also, he was one of the best foodies in Tokyo.

At that time, everyone who lives in the energetic city Tokyo enjoyed eating out. Especially, they loved Sushi, Tempura, Noodles and Grilled skewers. Additionally, “Okubo Imasuke”, he was addicted to grilled eels so much. Then, he ordered chopsticks for the Restaurant and that was so useful for the Rice bowl.

“First Rice Bowl in Japan”

He was not the only man who made chopsticks for takeout. He was also the first creator of Japanese style rice bowls. That was kind of a coincidence.

When he enjoyed his lunch plate and white rice separately, his ship was apt to depart earlier. Since he was almost left behind, he was very upset. Then he decided to put it all together, and those lunch plates were grilled eel and white rice. A Japanese style rice bowl was born here, this is the best gourmet food which is authentic and traditional in Japan.

It was really a coincidence, but it was also the destiny of Japanese food. Here is the story of the first Japanese style rice bowl. And today, this is a really important item in Japanese food culture.

“In Terms of Saving Water”

Because of the infrastructure and water supply in old Tokyo, we couldn’t use so much water frequently. Moreover, Japanese seasonings are kind of sticky because they contain sugar and soy sauce. It was tough to wash utensils and keep cleanliness. If we choose disposable chopsticks, we can save labor costs for washing, too. Since 300 years ago, we’ve preferred disposable chopsticks in terms of saving water.

“Using Right Materials”

Do you know how disposable chopsticks are made?
Although it’s not always right to use disposable kitchenware, these are usually environmentally friendly. So, why is it that ?

Because those chopsticks trees were the end materials of almost everything. We use lumber from thinnings for that. That is so right people, right place. 300 years ago, people who lived in Japan were already thinking about life cycle assessment. Like today, old people also hated wasting resources and they were eco-friendly. Japanese chopsticks really love sustainable materials.
